I’ve Always Loved You

I never could have guessed what we would become the night I saw you again after all those years. I was a broken mess with no business getting into a relationship but you waited. You waited while God put the pieces back together. You waited while I rebuilt my life. You waited through my commitment issues and uncertainties. I knew I loved you then. 

I could feel your love when you looked at me and I’d never felt that before. When you hugged me it felt like home and I thought that was just an idea in romance novels. You knew how to say sorry and follow that up with actually trying to change and be better when you messed up. We had the wedding of our dreams surrounded by everyone who loves us. I knew I loved you then. 

Watching you become a daddy and how much you love our boys has been a privilege. Something you were so unsure about but did the best job at protecting us and showing up every day asking what you could do for me. I knew I loved you then. 

Building a life with you is all my dreams come true and then some. You challenge me to be better every day. You are my person and I hope you know how much I’ve always loved you.
